The Seven Lakes of San Pablo, Laguna
* Bunot, Calibato, Pandin, Yambo, Palakpakin, and Mohicap. These natural wonders are set in the backdrop of San Pablo's rural outskirts, surrounded by mountains such as Mt. Cristobal and Tayak Hill, Mt. Kalisungan, and Mt. Mabilog. Their pristine quality range from Sampaloc Lake whose cleanliness is still a work in progress, to the serene cleanliness of the twin lakes Pandin and Yambo.
* All seven lakes can be visited in a single day, in a roadtrip that will take you to the beautiful wonders of San Pablo. The initial lakes line the road to Nagcarlan and other towns in the eastern, more inner section of Laguna. First is a quick stop to Bunot Lake, then proceeding to the farthest lake, Calibato. It is said that there is a small waterfall nearby this lake. Then comes the highlight, the twin lakes of Pandin andYambo. Here the waters are clear enough for swimming; the view is truly pristine and refreshing. You can rent bamboo rafts to go around the lake. Yambo, the further lake, is perhaps the most untouched all the seven lakes - and also the most beautiful. A trail leads to this lake from Pandin. Two other lakes are close to each other, Lake Palakpakinwhich is just beside the road and Lake Mohicap, another lake clean enough for swimming. A visit to Sampaloc Lake wraps up the day.
Bunot Lake
Lake Bunot is one of the Seven Lakes of San Pablo, Laguna. It is located in Brgy. Concepcion, San Pablo City. Only 4.5 km from the city proper, Bunot is known for its cultured tilapia and fishpens for Nilotica fingerlings. Bunot has a normal surface area of 30.5 hectares with a maximum depth of 23 meter.
Bunot is a convenient site for picnics. It is a real haven for nature lovers. Ideal for swimming and relaxation.
Legend
It was told that during the Spanish times, some Spanish soldiers came upon a quiet lagoon and wanted to know its name for record purposes. They inquired from a man husking coconuts by the side of the lake. Thinking that the soldiers were asking for the native name of the coconut husk, the man replied, "Bunot." The Spanish soldiers left, muttering the word, thinking that it was the name of the lake.
Pandin and Yambo Lake
Pandin and Yambo are twin crater lakes separated by a narrow strip of land. Lake Pandin is said to be "the most pristine" of the seven lakes of San Pablo. This lake is very much good looking view :) Malayo ang lalakin pero when you rich their sulit ang Pagod mo sa pag lalakad :)) wonderful place sa lahat ng lake na npuntahan nmin ..
Legend
It was told that these two lakes were named after two lovers. According to the legend, a beautiful woman named Pandin was cursed not to step on the earth, otherwise, something terrible would befall her. Yambo, her ardent lover, did not know about the curse and had made her step on earth, after which there was a terrible noise followed by the cracking grumble of the earth and a heavy downpour eventually converted the area into twin lakes separated from each other by a bare strip of land.
Lake Calibato
Lake Calibato is one of the seven crater lakes collectively called "Pitong Lawa" or Seven Lakes of San Pablo in Laguna. The lake is situated inBrgy. Sto. Angel in San Pablo City. Calibato has an area of 42 hectares and maximum depth of 135 meters. Calibato's maximum water capacity is approximately 29,600 cubic meters. Its supplies the city and nearby towns with abundant fish and aquatic plants. The lake is the deepest recorded among the seven-lake system; no recorded depths are available for Muhikap.
Legend
It was told that the area was the domain of a Diwata (fairy) who had wanted to keep her realm free from the intrusion of mankind. Thus she was angered when they built rocky pathways that criss-crossed her valley. She caused a strong earthquake and a severe storm that transformed her valley into a lagoon.
The villagers living on the other side of the surrounding hills, gaping at the sight they beheld the following morning, named it Lake Calibato, taken from the criss-crossing stone pathways of the valley. Cali must have been a conjunction of the Spanish "Calle" or Street, while Bato means rock or stone in the local dialect.
Bato Spring
Bato Springs is a resort in San Pablo City, Laguna a 2-hour drive from Manila. It is located between two legendary mountains - Mt. San Cristobal and Mt. Banahaw. This resort came into existence in 1981. Before Bato was opened to the public the swimming pool is formerly a river where several spring waters was coming out beside the river bank. Bamboo shoots were inserted to catch the water for drinking.
Bato Springs resort is a perfect venue to unwind with nature, a place that has been spared by modernization, a natural home ground for butterflies, dragonflies and birds. It is one of those places in the South of Manila where you can bring your friends over and relish the natural beauty of Laguna. It is on the border of Laguna and Quezon, on the foot of Mount Banahaw, about 2-hour drive from Manila and 15 minutes away from San Pablo City proper.
